Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and according to NAMI ( National Alliance on Mental Illness ), since it's inception in 1949, this month has been a cornerstone of addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions. It is in my nature to challenge the root cause to why so many are dealing with mental health issues. Of course, each individual is different and depending on their background, child hood experiences, genetics, environment , health status and work conditions, once the layers are pulled back we get to see the seed it started from. As women, when we go through our cycles, birth children, deal with hormonal imbalances etc, this can also be areas where we see changes in our mental health.

I have recently been working on a course that will be launched in a few weeks called "Pursuing the Root". This was inspired by a number of health challenges I experienced in the past and the main way I would overcome it was by resolving the issue from the root not just settling with what would temporarily fix the symptom. Dealing with a hormonal imbalance myself called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and going through post partum depression after having my children, I definitely understand the magnitude of checking in on our mental health. It's important to have safe spaces to process what you're going through and I also want to encourage people that it won't always be dark and hazy. Things can change and will change when we become proactive about our personal healing journey. I realized that in order for me to break free from what I was feeling it would include the work of research , prayer and then application. Much of this will be discussed in my course but I wanted to give everyone a free gift today in the form of a pdf ( that's also included in one of the workbooks in my course) which includes a daily wellness checklist and an affirmation sheet of uplifting words and phrases. Both sheets can be printed out and the words/ phrases on the affirmation sheet you can get creative with by laminating it, cutting them out and putting little magnet tabs behind them to hang up or any other way you would desire.

( Feel free to post online how you are using your pdfs by tagging @amwwellness )

I also wanted to introduce you to a friend of mines who has been doing amazing in her field! Therapy was a life changing resource for me to process childhood trauma. I want you to know that no matter what you've been through, restoration is your portion too. It's not just for the next person but if you too desire wholeness, that is to be celebrated and supported.
